Well here's your chance. Here we go ...
Start your warmup with Fuego by Bomba Estereo (4:32); finish the warmup with Rubberneckin' (Original Version) by Elvis Presley (5:20) (this one can be found on Rhapsody the Oakenfold Remix album).
Now for the ride; there are several pieces in the playlist that give the impression of charging up a hill. So in that vein, I'm starting this one with Treat Her Like A Lady (2:44). It's an oldie with a good starting beat, which should easily bring the class out of the saddle into a standing climb.
I'll slow the tempo down with Creeper (3:15) by Islands; the idea here is to slow the tempo down and add resistance, as in seated climb.
From this point on to the end, it's a climb at varying tempos. To get the point across I used My Companjera (3:22) by Gogol Bordello. Most know what happens here, on the raucous chorus of "My companjera ...", I ask the class to come out of the saddle in a standing climb -- the charge in on. Come back to the saddle, and do it again on the next chorus -- charge!
We'll slow down the tempo again with Dengue Fever tune, Family Business (3:38), continue to climb in the saddle with more resistance. The LA group combines elements of Cambodian rock, rock, psychedelic, surf and indie.
Next, we make a standing climb charge to LCD Soundsystem's Watch The Tapes (3:55). Most of you are familiar the LCD's sound -- enough said.
Back to jumps again from seated position to standing climb jumps to Disko (friends of Boban Mix) (4:40) by Shantel featuring Boban Markovic Orkestar, the Balkan Brass Band.
By now everyone is well warmed up, it's time to get serious about our climb; participant choice, seated or standing climb or combination to Us V Them (8:29), another strong LCD Soundsystem tune. We are very serious now, stay relaxed, all the muscles in your face should be slack, the rest of the body will be the same way. Charge!
We'll pick up the pace a bit in a seated climb position to Death (5:01) by White Lies. Don't let the title scare you, the song has a strong beat and the lyrics in places are uplifting.
Two songs to do in this non-stop ride; Miss Kittin's Pollution Of The Mind (5:16) will give us the last push we need to reach the summit in a standing climb position.
The finale is Joe Satriani's Surfing With The Alien (4:26). Take this one in the saddle and pick up cadence in the 80-90 rpm range and finish strong.
The cooldown starts with Cowboy Junkies's Blue Moon Revisited (Song For Elvis) (4:28). The rest of this splendid cooldown includes, I'll Take You There (4:45), The Staple Singer, Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters (5:00), Elton John, Won't Back Down (5:09), Mat Kearney, Blue World (5:10), The Moody Blues and Losing My Head (Album Version) (5:10), Clan of Xymox.
